Contested Adoptions

Contested adoptions are often emotionally wrought and complicated cases. Dion will work diligently to help ensure the best interests of the child prevail.

In certain cases a birth father who has not established a legal relationship to the child will attempt to thwart the planned adoption.  In cases involving an uninvolved, non-supporting father, Michigan law provides a means for the court to evaluate the best interests of the potential adoptee and terminate the birth father's rights involuntarily if the termination would be in the child's best interests.
